Living in Redmond

Light rail changed the math. Redmond pairs one of the region’s strongest job bases with a downtown you can actually walk, a 640-acre park at its doorstep, and river trails running straight through the middle of town.

Why We Love It

A Tech Town That Grew Into a Real One

Redmond has been an employment powerhouse for decades. What’s new is how it lives: light rail now runs into the heart of downtown, and the city around the stations is filling in with the kind of everyday urbanity the area long lacked.

Weekends here orbit Marymoor Park, concerts, the velodrome, one of the country’s great off-leash dog parks, and the Sammamish River Trail, which carries bikes from downtown all the way to the wineries of Woodinville and beyond. Add a compact downtown of breweries, restaurants, and Redmond Town Center, and you get a city where the commute, the park, and dinner can all happen without a car.

The Neighborhoods

Where Redmond Life Happens

The Center

Downtown

Light rail, breweries, restaurants, and a growing residential core: Redmond’s walkable heart, anchored by the Downtown Redmond station.

Park Side

Marymoor Village

The neighborhood rising beside Marymoor Park and its own light rail station, trail access one way, concerts the other.

The Classics

Education Hill

Established residential streets on the hill above downtown, the kind of blocks people settle into and stay on for generations.

The Engine

Overlake

The employment district shared with Bellevue, stitched into the regional light rail line, and steadily adding places to live, not just work.

Getting Around

The Newest Rail Town East of the Lake

With the 2 Line running through Overlake, Marymoor Village, and Downtown Redmond, the city is directly wired to Bellevue and the regional network.

Highway 520 puts Seattle within reach, buses feed the rail spine, and the Sammamish River and East Lake Sammamish trails give cyclists genuine car-free commutes. For daily life, downtown and Town Center cover groceries to date night within a compact radius.
